Outreach
Our Lord’s last words before He ascended into Heaven were “Go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone” (Mark 16:15 NLT).
We believe this should still be the mission of the church today and we are devoted to sharing the life of Jesus Christ with the world. Many times that means meeting a physical, felt need in the process, just as Jesus did. Take a look at what we have to offer and see how you might like to be a part of one of these exciting outreach ministries.
Community Services
Community Services assists with food and occasional clothing needs of community residents in need. Last year our Community Services provided food items to over 10,000 El Dorado County residents. If you are in need, we invite you to visit us Wednesday mornings between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Community Services Building located next to the new building. We look forward to greeting you and assisting you with your food or clothing needs. If you would like to support the work of our Community Services ministries, we welcome donations of non-perishable food items. Monetary donations may be made by designating funds on an offering envelope.
New Placerville Community Center
Almost ten years ago, church members cast a vision for a multi-purpose community center that would provide opportunities to serve our community in a greater capacity. Now under construction, the shell of the building is up and we are looking forward to completing the lower level in the near future. This 22,000 square foot community center will offer a large meeting area for conferences, concerts, dinners, and receptions with a capacity of 800 and includes a picturesque lakeside view. We anticipate offering community-focused classes including cooking, C.H.I.P (Coronary Health Improvement Program), depression, and blood pressure management. In the future, an improved par course and nature trail will encircle the pond providing outdoor recreation opportunities.
Christmas Star Program
Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these, you did it unto me (Matthew 25: 40).
We seek to make an impact on our local community by providing gifts to the children whose parents are incarcerated at the Placerville El Dorado County Jail. Many times, it is the children who suffer the most in these circumstances. Gifts from caring church members provide these children with a much needed sense of hope and love during the holiday season. This program is similar to the Angel Tree program that provides gifts for the children of inmates in prison. For more information, look for announcements in the church bulletin during the months of November and December.
Pathfinder Food Drive
Every year, our Pathfinder group collects nonperishable food items to be sorted and distributed to area residents in need. Last year, we created food baskets and boxes that blessed many residents in need. It is a joy for our youth to touch lives in such a meaningful and tangible fashion. As a church, it is our delight to be part of this experience and rally around young people who desire to impact their community for Jesus Christ. If you would like to support the Pathfinders in this effort, look for specific bulletin announcements during late October to early November.
Spring Youth Mission Trip
Every two years, or high school youth group travels to a foreign country, often in Central or South America to minister to a local congregation and community. Partnering with Maranatha Volunteers International, a permanent church structure is often the tangible product that is built during this 10-14 day period. The intangible “products” are the lives forever changed by the transforming power of Jesus Christ through our witness of word and action. While adults and youth alike work side by side to build a much-needed permanent church structure, other church members conduct Bible classes for local children. Frequently the ranks swell as neighborhood children recruit friends to join them in these fun and inspirational classes. We rejoice with our brothers and sisters around the world at what God does with willing hands and hearts. Would you like to be part of this rewarding experience? Contact Pastor Roy Hager at the church office for more information about this year’s trip.
Child Connect
Child Connect is a program initiated by the El Dorado Court system, providing supervised visitation for non-custodial parents and their children. To qualify for the program each family must be recommended by the Court. Child Connect meets Sunday mornings and is run by an all volunteer staff. For more information about this ministry, contact the church office.
